        As shown before the AND gate can be considered as two switches connected in series. For the battery 5V (logic 1) to appear across the resistor then both switches must be closed. With either or both switches open then point X will be at zero volts or logic 0. The truth table shows all possible AND gate conditions. Only one of which is true.
